To live your purpose you have to be brave. More often than not, we are the only ones standing in the way of our happiness and dreams. You need to be brave and have a resilient heart in order to truly live your life’s purpose. We tend to self-sabotage and give in to our fears and doubts all the time. How many ideas have you not pursued? How many dreams have you abandoned?
I know I have the tendency to spiral out of control and give into my anxiety from time to time. It usually starts by doubting what I’m doing. Questioning if I’m on the right path, if what I’m doing makes sense… if everything I’m putting out there is being perceived the right way. I tend to judge myself and fall into my perfectionism where I want everything to be 100% clear and perfect. So I spend hours and days changing what was already good in the first place, wasting precious time by willingly handing it over to my fear. Thats four years of my life re-doing the same thing over and over because I was afraid. I put my life’s purpose on pause because I wasn’t brave enough to keep going, to learn from past mistakes and move forward regardless.
I don’t want that to happen to you. I want you to be brave and push forward even on the toughest of days. I’m not saying that you won’t struggle, thats just part of life, what I am saying is that there are ways to move past those doubt filled days if we are brave enough to do it.
Face Uncertainty with Bravery
Make your peace with the unknown. Most of our fears are in our heads anyway, it’s the ifs, buts and coconuts. Will my business take off? Will people like my Instagram post? Am I ever going to be a millionaire? Get the girl? Change my life? All these questions are uncertainties. These tend to cloud our purpose and hold us back because not knowing the outcome makes us humans uncomfortable.
The walls of our comfort zones are neatly decorated with posters of our all time favorite excuses. Facing the unknown future, one where we may get hurt, disappointed or even face failure, is a future that our Egos don’t want to face. You see, our Egos are just trying to protect us by sounding the alarm bells in our minds that there is a chance of getting hurt and maybe we should back off. Here’s where we need to be brave to keep going, because guess what? Those alarm bells are actually pointing us toward what we want the most.
Be Brave Enough To Be Yourself
A life full of purpose is one where you are unapologetically yourself. Being your true Self takes courage. You need to be brave to shine like the crazy magical diamond you are. In today’s world full of comparison and self doubt, we tend to hide who we really are opting for becoming chameleons to fit into certain molds.
I am so so guilty of this, for years I changed my personality depending on who I was talking to because of my fear of rejection. Even my tone of voice changed to mimic the inflection of someone else. I didn’t even realize I was doing it either until I started to work on myself and my beliefs. Once I re-programed my fear of rejection and was able to truly embrace my inner Self, everything started clicking. I began to live my purpose and now I’m actually quite happy and kinda proud of who I am, quirks and all. So be brave enough to be yourself. Fight off the comparison monsters, embrace all of you and love yourself. There is power in who you are, use it.
Have Courage and Listen to Your Gut Above All Else
How many times do we say yes when we actually mean no? Intuition is one of the strongest powers you own. When has your gut ever guided you wrong? Intuition is connected to your highest purpose, potential and your truest Self. When things feel a bit off, you instantly know it. Following your gut takes… guts!
You know those scary movies where all the dumb kids are going into the haunted house? There’s always this one sensible character that expresses concern about how its a horrible idea to go into this seemingly abandoned house in the middle of the woods at midnight and no one ever listens. Cue the murders. Well, if that character was brave enough to follow their instincts and had not gone into the house, all her dumb friends would probably still be alive. Don’t give into peer pressure, listen to your gut.
Boldly Live Your Purpose!
Remember, bravery is not a lack of fear, but the ability to move forward in spite of it. So I encourage you to take a page out of the Gryffindor handbook and be brave. Because your life depends on it!
