Hi, I’m Emmy and I’m addicted to coffee. I know that drinking 3-5 cups of coffee a day is not ideal and is actually a tad bad for you which is why I decided to create the perfect matcha latte recipe! I needed a beverage that could still deliver that caffeine kick but have enough positive effects that it could sway my mindset to swap out my usual cup of coffee with little to no objections.
I used to have matcha lattes when I lived in Los Angeles and it became trendy. But my first ever taste of real matcha was on my trip to Tokyo, Japan. Me and my hubby did a traditional tea ceremony and learned all about matcha, where it came from and its incredible superfood properties. When I returned home I brought with me a bunch of different matcha powder types and got to testing. I was looking to create a recipe that was both delicious, creamy and had powerful beauty properties. I wanted my matcha latte recipe to transform my morning routine.
Superfood Ingredients
This matcha latte recipe is easy and can be made with ingredients you probably already have in your pantry (except maybe the matcha itself haha!). I tried to keep it simple but with balanced ingredients that make this matcha latte recipe yummy and full of beautifying properties. So let’s go over them shall we?
Matcha
Matcha is delicious. I can actually drink it on its own with nothing added to it. I simply love it. Think of it as a shot of caffeine! It is basically pure green tea in powdered form. A high-grade matcha (or ceremonial matcha) has a smooth and mellow flavor without any bitterness.
Matcha is a powerful antioxidant that can even boost your metabolism. The best part is it has anti-aging properties that help reduce inflammation and powerful oxidants that help you look and feel younger. Did I mention it also helps reduce stress? Matcha is a powerhouse of good nutrients that promote health.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is everrrything. I have seen many recipes adding a teaspoon of of the stuff to coffee for creaminess and because of the added benefits. It gives instant energy, boosts your brain system, reduces the risk of heart disease, promotes digestion, helps in fat loss and can even help with anxiety. Sign me up!
Cinnamon
Another antioxidant with powerful anti-inflammatory properties! Just a dash of cinnamon may boost brain function and if you’re adding it to your daily morning beverage it can help you be more productive!
You probably are noticing a theme here! That’s because I really wanted to create a morning drink that would not only help me focus and start my morning with energy, but that would help me feel good as well. The thing about having too much coffee is that sometimes I get the jitters. Matcha on the other hand provides me with my energy kick without any side effects. This matcha latte recipe is full of healthy beauty foods.
What you’ll need:
To make a good matcha you’re going to need a bamboo whisk! I really like this set or this one. It has everything you need. BUT if you wanna be more efficient and don’t care about that “hand made” feel, then get one of these fancy electric whisk.

This matcha latte recipe is creamy because of the coconut oil and oat milk mix, spicy because of the cinnamon and oh so tasty from the green tea powder. I’m not saying this is completley going to replace my coffee habits but at least I know that with this beautifying drink I can get my caffeine fix with the added bonus of youthful health.
