Vegan Rosé Gummy Bears

vegan rosé gummy bears

October 24, 2017

How did I live my whole life without knowing the awesomeness of vegan rose gummy bears?! I loooovee gummy bears, they were my go-to “snack” back in high school. Me and my best friend Martha used to get them during breaks and eat/play with them all the time, of course back home in México we call them Panditas (little Pandas). If only I had known that you could put booze in gummy bears back then ????

My husband (who is a newbie Vegan) was very upset when he found out that gelatin is not vegan… he, like me, really likes gummies! He would eat a whole jar of the Olly Gummy Vitamins if he could.

Since I have been trying to create more vegan treats in my kitchen these days I thought I would give it a shot. Turns out, Agar Agar is a very cool substitute for gelatin as it’s made from algae AND it cooks quicker so there’s that.

I had a lot of edible gold flakes left over from a cocktail I made so I thought I would add them to this recipe to give these bears an edge of fabulousness. I mean Rosé and Gold? What’s not to love?! I also wanted the bears to pop so I added a drop of vegan food coloring to make the pink really stand out in contrast to the gold.

I had been meaning to try the Yes Way Rosé wine that has been all over my Insta feed and let me tell you… it’s crisp, delicious and cheap. I’m a sucker for good branding too and I really like the ~aesthetic~ of the brand… it’s a win/win for me. Feel free to use any kind of Rosé you want, if it’s a sweeter wine you may want to cut back on adding a ton of sugar (unless thats your thing, then you do you).

Vegan Rosé Gummy Bears with Edible Gold Flakes

You are about to get your taste buds happy dancing over this boozy bear. It’s only 3 ingredients, under 20 minutes and extremely easy to make. The only thing you really need is the mold which you can easily get on Amazon (because what doesn’t it have?!).

[recipe title=”Vegan Rosé Gummy Bears” time=”20min” servings=”3 Trays”]

[recipe-ingredients title=”You’ll Need:”]
– 1 cup Rosé Wine
– 1/4 cup Organic Cane Sugar
– 1 tbsp Agar Agar Powder
– 1 drop Vegan Pink Food Coloring (Optional)
Edible Gold Flakes (Optional)

[/recipe-ingredients]
[recipe-directions title=”Here’s How:”]

  1. Place Gummy mold in the freezer.*
  2. Pour wine in a small saucepan followed by sugar and 1 tbsp agar agar on medium heat until it begins to lightly simmer.
  3. Whisk continuously for 3 minutes until mixture starts to thicken and all the agar agar has dissolved. If you want the gummies to be pink, whisk in 1 drop of food coloring then leave to cool for 2-5min.
  4. Using a dropper, fill each gummy hole with the mixture.*
  5. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours then pop out of the molds and enjoy!

*If you want to add edible gold flakes, do not place the mold in the freezer! Instead leave it in a cool counter and add your flakes with tweezers into each bear shaped hole. It takes a lot of patience but the end result is worth it!

* Agar cooks and sets quickly, so if you’re halfway down the molds and the mixture sets in the pan, just pop it back onto heat to melt (just make sure it doesn’t boil!

I’m not one to brag, but these little guys came out delicious… I really have never had Rosé gummies… or even VEGAN Rosé gummies… so all in all I think I did a pretty good job. It’s crisp, tangy and sweet all at the same time, and I feel extra ~fancy~ because they sparkle and have gold in them.

Pop em’ in a glass of Rosé, put on your favorite Rom-Com (mine is You Got Mail), and have yourself a relaxing pink-filled evening.
