Last weekend I decided to start re-watching all the classic Disney movies (in order!) for inspiration on my cocktail poster series, I instantly wanted to try my hand at an apple martini recipe. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is the first ever feature-length animation and the first in the Disney Classics collection. The Evil Queen is the first badass babe who brews a concoction that looks like a legit cocktail, so I had to put my spin on it.
Rewatching the movie was super weird. Its not my favorite so I have only watched it maybe 3 times in my life? This is compared to the millions of times I have seen The Little Mermaid, Cinderella and Peter Pan. You can say that Snow White is not in my top 5 favorite movies, honestly she doesn’t even make it to my top 20. So when rewatching the movie, I just couldn’t stop thinking how dramatic she is. Like, girl is the queen of drama. She imagines all these monsters and runs in circles only to fall crying… They were little innocent woodland creatures!
The only thing I enjoy about that movie is when the Evil Queen goes to her dungeon and with her old school science lab set gets to brewin’. It is very entertaining how she makes her potions, she too is a tad dramatic but I’ll give her a pass.
Now while her ingredients are a bit out there, not to mention unattainable for us foolish mortals, I created a recipe that is simple and super quick to do. It is based on sour apple liqueur to give it that poison feel. No need for mummy’s dust on this apple martini recipe. ????
I seriously enjoy making these. It mixes design, Disney and cocktail recipes so what’s not to love? It has become a habit to watch a movie with Keal and we’ll both talk about what recipe we can do inspired by the movie. There’s so many more movies to go through and I can’t wait to test out some stuff to bring you guys the best Disney inspired cocktails.
