I am so excited to finally reveal our living room decor! We moved into our desert townhome when I was 27 so it’s been a little under 3 years now and we just got around to decorating. Isn’t that crazy? One of my goals since turning 30, was to get my home all decorated to my liking, because hey, I work hard and I deserve to have a space that brings me joy right? Right?! Haha! Anyways, I shared my plans with you a couple of weeks ago, so you can go see this post for our the living room decor plans and a bit of before pics. I think we got it pretty close to our initial mockups!

As I mentioned in the previous post, when we moved into our townhome, we purchased all the big furniture pieces. So we already had our couch and coffee table. We also had the tv console and the leather chair. If I’m being honest, I would have looooved to buy a new couch and replace some of the big pieces since it’s been 4 years since we bought them and my tastes have changed, but we made it work! They are good pieces that we invested in so we just added some accent pieces and living room decor items to get everything to feel like us.

We really wanted the space to feel cozy and magical. Something both me and my hubby Keal could enjoy. Since we’re both designers, we love big color blocking and graphic prints. We chose to go with two big frames that complemented each other but were minimally graphic in design. Once we found the ‘Zap Them With Magique’ print, we knew that it would fit our space and vision perfectly. I mean it’s what we’re all about after all!

One of the things I reaaaallly wanted for this space was that fancy Samsung Frame tv that everyone has. It just would have made the space a bit cozier. TVs tend to be a focal point in a living room because of how big and stark they are. I thought having that slim faux wood tv frame with an artwork on it would elevate our space. Since we don’t have that budget, I tried to soften up this corner with some greenery. I also added more natural pieces like the vases and amber glass candles.

Also, there are a lot of veeeeery subtle (and some not so subtle) Disney nods throughout our living room decor. If you know me, you know I’m completley obsessed with Disney! I like sprinkling in some of that in my space. But as a Designer, I don’t like being over the top and obvious. We have carefully have curated some Disney books that also serve as graphic design inspiration. We also have some trinkets, like the Mickey + Minnie figurine we got at the Disney Aulani resort on our Hawaii Honeymoon!

We both wanted a mix of minimal with colorful, clean but graphically interesting — I actually like to call this space ‘colorfully minimal’! We like to keep things clean but adding a splash of color and texture. We also LOVE having fresh greenery and plant friends everywhere. I still cannot believe we haven’t killed our fiddle leaf fig (aka, Figgy Newton).

Our living room is part of an open concept floor plan, so it’s directly connected to the dining area, kitchen and kitchen nook. Since we’re taking it slowly, we’re only showing the living room part of our house this time around. I know sometimes these types of reveal show everything within the space, but we’re on a budget and we’re taking it one section at a time! Next up, is our bedroom! We’re saving up so we can start decorating, but you can see our plans for it here.
