Why You Need a Daily Wellness Tracker

Having a daily wellness tracker is so important for a life well lived. By writing down + tracking your daily mood, food + well-being you become intentional.

Since I’ve been on this whole wellness kick, I have been way more mindful of what I’m putting in my body and I thought a daily wellness tracker could help. Before, I would sustain myself with junk food and carbonated beverages, at least 5 cups of coffee per day and no water whatsoever. Awful, I know! Which is why I decided that I need to be on top of my mental and physical health. In order to create great work, help others and be my best self I need to be mindful of my body and mind.

If you’re new to the mindful game, the concept is actually quite simple. All you have to do is be present in the moment. That’s the gist of it! Becoming aware of what you are doing and why you are doing it. In today’s world I feel like we’re all becoming robot-like. Scrolling through our phones while we eat a quick meal at lunch time, then back to work and mindlessly snacking and downing cup after cup of caffeinated beverages. You come home exhausted, pop open a bottle of wine and order take-out. That used to be my life, and I know thousands and thousands of others do the same thing. I mean, who has time to cook a healthy meal, let alone go exercise?!

The thing is, being mindful is totally worth the effort. Enjoying every moment and taking care of yourself are just two of the amazing side-effects of being mindful.

Why You Need to Track Your Wellness

So why did I create a daily wellness tracker? Well… for a couple of months there I started to take notice of my eating habits but I never wrote it down. I kept making mental notes like “today I had a super healthy breakfast and lunch!”, but by the time dinner rolled around, I was exhausted and just ate whatever unhealthy thing was available. Same thing for exercising. I would say I would do it, but again, I just chalked it up to be exhaustion of the work day and skipped it. I didn’t even take into account my mental health either. I just needed something to keep me accountable.

I believe that tracking your wellness is the most important part of a life well lived. By writing down what you put into your body as well as what your recurring thoughts and moods are, you become aware of your life. You can no longer just stand idly by, you have to do something. In my case, my eyes were opened as to just how much my anxiety was taking control of my life. By writing down my moods and journal my thoughts I was able to identify the things that were holding me back. It was so empowering for me, that I decided to just do a daily worksheet so I could track my life outside of work. I mean we tend to buy planners to track goals and work stuff, so why not our lives?

My Daily Wellness Tracker

I created my daily wellness tracker not only to hold me accountable, but to really become aware of how I live my life. There’s something about putting things on paper that make it more permanent and real in our eyes. You can tell yourself you skipped the gym for a week straight but never really feel the weight of the time you lost until its on paper. Same goes for your mental health, if you write down that you had a bad day and your mood was awful for a week straight, you take notice and start to question yourself. Do you want to spend another week in this mood? Why are you in this mood? Keeping track helps.

Take Control of Your Life

It is my hope that with this sheet you can start taking control of your life. I know I did. It took me a while to get used to it, and granted, it does feel tedious sometimes, but keeping track holds me accountable for my choices. I am way more mindful and think twice before I revert to my old ways because I have to write it down. I have to record that bad choice, or the good one. It’s totally psychological.

Believe me, I know that you probably feel like you have no time to keep track, add yet another thing to your endless to-do list… but it takes minutes. Keep a piece of paper by your desk and just make notes thought the day. There’s probably an app for this somewhere, but being on your phone is distracting, so I think having a physical sheet is way better. I’ve been doing this for 3 weeks now and I am way more intentional with my health choices because the OCD in me wants my sheet to look perfect haha.

What do you think about tracking your wellness? Is it something you think will help make your life easier and better? Let me know in the comments!
