After months and months of planning (and re-planning!), I am so happy to finally share my California inspired home office! You may have seen my decor ideas last year, and honestly it looks so much more different than what I originally had planned. We ran into some issues along the way while building the room and needed to address those before we could actually get in here and decorate, but it all worked out in the end!
In case you missed it, I shared the story of how and why we decided to build this room on my design plan post and talked about how this space actually used to be a garage! Our townhome came with a tandem garage (that’s the one that fits two cars with one in front of the other) and since me and my hubby, Keal, share a car, it made sense to turn it into a room! He was so sweet about it too, he built me a whole room from scratch! I shared the process over on my Instagram a while back, but he put in the wall, the door and everything else! We even added tile, lighting and a mini a/c!

He is honestly the best! I love having a space to work on my dreams and not have it be inside my house. I feel like it is separate because you have to go all the way downstairs and into the garage so technically, it’s not part of our living area! At the end of the day, I can close the door and stop thinking about work! This office really makes me happy!

I’m obsessed with this office. It is so minimal and clean so it brings me a lot of joy to work out of it every day! Plus it has an attached patio where Pancake loves to lounge in the sun while I design. I even join her sometimes when I break between tasks, open up the patio doors and chill on the hanging chair. It is one of my favorite pieces! I’ll link everything at the bottom of the post too 🙂

It was so important to me to add little decor pieces that would be a source of inspiration. Every single piece was carefully curated so that it truly brings me joy — including an original Disneyland castle print that reminds me of cotton candy 🙂 It’s actually part of a wallpaper series I did a while back!

Besides the hanging chair, my favorite statement piece is the big floor mirror. It really brightens up the room and makes it feel really magical. I can foresee doing a lot on Insta stories about my outfits on there haha!

We’ve been living in our townhome for about 3 years now and this is the first room that is actually finished! We want to start tackling every room now that we aren’t traveling are are sticking around, so be on the lookout for more home projects! They seriously are the best, I love decorating and injecting California vibes into our townhome in the desert. I have had some of the decor pieces for years, just waiting for the perfect spot. So some of these items may be sold out and no longer available, but here’s the full list of resources that are:
